1. What is personal coaching?
Personal Coaching is a form of learning, where a person (a life coach) supports someone else (a coachee) to create learning and self-development in a way that benefits them. Coaching is normally a conversation, or series of conversations, one person has with another. The Coach produces a conversation that will benefit the other person, in a way that relates to the coachee's learning and progress. Coaching conversations might happen in many different ways, and in many different environments.
2. What is Life Coaching?
Life Coaching is about accepting yourself in the present and is not based on past life experiences such as counseling or therapy. It helps you to choose to accept the way you are, without judgments, and gives you a way to find your own answers by allowing your life coach to open your mind to endless possibilities.
3. Who uses a life coach?
Men and women who are open to change in any aspect of their lives. Quite simply, anyone who feels their life just isn't going where they would like it to be going and who is unable to move on or achieve a particular goal on their own.
4. Does life coaching really provide benefit?
I am slightly biased here and that's not because I have trained as a life coach! I consider myself extremely lucky to have been coached by some incredible people who have helped me reshape my life. Just ask anyone who has experienced life coaching and they will tell you that it has changed their life, that it has brought them personal satisfaction and success, a deep sense of achievement and that they feel energised to move forward in a positive and purposeful way.
5. How long would someone need to see a personal life coach for?
As long as you want to is the simple answer! Usually a life coaching relationship lasts between 4 & 12 sessions, the timing really depends upon what area or areas you need life coaching in. Some clients will just see me for one session, for clarity in one particular area of their life, and others have life coaching for up to and over one year.
6. Is Life Coaching like counselling or mentoring?
No. If after talking with you I feel you would be better suited to either of those options, I will discuss this with you and you can always come back to life coaching another time.
How does Telephone Coaching work?
I prefer to work with my clients face-to-face. I do, however, accept telephone clients when circumstances prevent in-person meetings. Working by phone means that appointments can be made to suit you and your schedule and location. This also means no travel time and costs. My experience of working by phone is that you can feel quickly at ease, the relationship tends to be very balanced and it is possible to make progress rapidly.
